It seems the general consensus is that 2016 was the worst year in recent memory, eclipsing the financial downturn of ’08 and the brief reign of the Wasp People back in ’03. But not everyone succumbed to the soul-crushing effects of a pile of dead celebs and the appointment of a guy who owned a fake school to king of the world—some people did pretty good but you probably didn’t notice because you were too busy counting down the days until 2017 only to quickly realize it’ll likely be much worse.

ANYWAY, one such luck-haver is one of our favourites, K. Trevor Wilson. While most of us filled our 2016 diaries with swear words and drawings of crude weapons dripping with blood, K.Trev had what has likely the best year of his life.

First off, Letterkenny exploded with popularity thanks in part to his role as Squirrelly Dan, the lovable hick with a flair for storytelling and hooverin’ shneef off anything and everything. The show’s amazing second season started streaming on Christmas Day 2016 exclusively on CraveTV, capping what for most normal people would be an exceptional year. But don’t forget that Wilson also participated in, and largely dominated, Roast Battle during Just For Laughs in Montreal at the end of July. He represented Canada proudly and made it all the way to the finals where he narrowly lost to Mike Lawrence. His performance put his comedy and face in front of a huge audience across the States and cemented his spot as one of Canada’s best comics.

It’d be hard to top that year but K. Trev started 2017off with a bang by making his American late night TV debut last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live. For any comic, a spot like this represents new opportunities and a sultry whisper from the comedy gods saying, “You made it, baby”. At this pace Wilson will probably win an Oscar by the end of the year so keep an eye on him and enjoy his set from last night, as well as a brief chat with Kimmel below. Congrats K. Trev, from all of us at Comedy!!!!
