Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson is very much a man of letters: not only was his memoir Mo’ Meta Blues released last week, he also wore a sweet Scrabble-themed bowtie (worth 10 points!) for his interview on last night’s Daily Show. Although John Oliver said nice things about Questlove’s writing, The Roots drummer/co-founder gave significant credit to his manager Richard Nichols, who added irate footnotes contradicting and amending all the anecdotes in the book. Anecdotes that include Questlove’s first memory of the Curtis Mayfield song “Freddie’s Dead” and the time he went roller-skating with Prince.
