On Monday's Daily Show, Jason Jones travelled to Moscow and tried to re-kindle the Cold War. And for the second instalment of his "Live from Sochi-ish" series, which aired last night, Jones went out into the streets to ask regular Russians what they think of homosexuality. You'd hope this would be one of those segments where we find out that no one is actually as much of a bigot as the media is making them out to be—but sadly that's not the case. First, Jones interviews Sergey Markov, a longtime public spokesperson for Vladimir Putin who is predictably infuriating on the gay rights issue. But it's not just Putin's buddies who feel this way: plenty of regular Russians express similar sentiments. Can one lady's Angel quote redeem a whole nation?
