The folks at SiriusXM are once again on the hunt for Canada’s Top Comic and to find him or her they’re travelling across Canada from Vancouver to St. John’s.

Comedians can register online until May 9 by submitting a video to www.siriusxm.ca/topcomic for the chance to audition in one of eight cities:

Ottawa, ON - May 26, 2014, Absolute Comedy
Montreal, QC - May 27, The Comedy Nest
St. John's, NL - May 28, Yuk Yuk's
Toronto, ON - June 2, The Rivoli
Hamilton, ON - June 4, Yuk Yuk's
Winnipeg, MB - June 8, Rumor's Comedy Club
Edmonton, AB - June 9, The Comic Strip
Vancouver, BC - June 11, The Comedy Mix

"This competition keeps getting better and better and we are thrilled to see this year's crop of awesome talent," said SiriusXM's Ben Miner, host of Canada Laughs and MC of the audition shows. "This country has some of the world's most amazing comedy talent and that doesn't always get noticed. We're really proud to support and help develop emerging and more established talent through competitions like this."

If dubbed Top-worthy, the sets of the best comics will be put online for the public to vote on with the top vote-getters from each city heading to Toronto for a live finale as part of JFL42. The Top Comic will be decided by a panel of judges and will receive not only the coveted title but a hopefully oversized cheque for $15,000.

So if you’re a Canadian comic, send them a video and wait patiently, and if you’re a comedy fan keep www.siriusxm.ca/topcomic bookmarked and vote for your favourites once they’re added. You’ll also be able to hear auditions on SiriusXM’s fully uncensored Canada Laughs station on channel 168 and of course you can check out the finale at JFL42 if you live anywhere near Toronto or are rich enough to travel there.

Previous winners of the contest include Pete Zedlacher (2013), Eric Andrews (2011), Matt O'Brien (2010) and Brian Stollery (2009). If you think you have what it takes you might as well compare yourself to last year’s winner, Pete Zedlacher, by watching his Comedy Now! special from 2001, keeping in mind he’s even more funny now.
