The road to becoming a top comic is fraught with late nights, rejection, loneliness and empty wallets, but that doesn’t stop legions of Canadians from strapping in and giving it a shot. If you’re a comic and feel you’ve paid your dues and are sick of not having money and respect, then SiriusXM’s Top Comic competition is for you!

For a sixth year, Canada Laughs host Ben Miner will be travelling across our nation to find Canada’s funniest comedian, with the winner getting  a very enticing $15,000 and of course the title of “Top Comic” .
If you fancy yourself a laugh-master then register NOW
and link to a video of you being very funny in front of a crowd. Twelve performers will be selected for one of eight audition shows, hosted by Ben and going down in cities across Canada including Ottawa, Montreal, Halifax, Winnipeg, Calgary, Vancouver and two shows in Toronto.  Three comics from each audition show will be chosen for the voting round where their audition night sets will be posted online, giving Canada the opportunity to vote for their favourites. The eight performers with the most votes in each region will then perform at a gala at JFL42 where the winner will be crowned!

We’re not sure what last year’s winner—Montreal’s Faisal Butt—did with the money, but we do know that he followed his win with an opening spot on the Canadian leg of Russell Peters’ Almost Famous World Tour. So yeah, you’re going to want to enter if fancy yourself a comedian. Here’s Faisal’s audition from last year so you know what kind of talent you’ll be up against.

For you non-Comedians, be sure to follow the contest and vote for who you think Canada’s Top Comic should be!
