Obviously we were beyond thrilled when we heard about Corner Gas: The Animated Series, but we couldn’t help but wonder what would become of the cartoon version of Emma Leroy. Sadly, Janet Wright who portrayed Emma on Corner Gas passed away in 2016, leaving big shoes to fill on the new animated series. Well, it appears those shoes have now been adequately filled as Brent Butt announced today that the show has found the perfect person to honour Janet and keep Emma in Dog River by casting Wright’s friend, Corrine Koslo, in the role.
“She was a friend and a mentor to me when I began my career in Vancouver,” said Koslo. “She nurtured and cared about young performers. I am beyond honoured to be continuing the character of Emma in the animated series for my friend Janet Wright. Thank you Bruce Davis for thinking I might be the right gal!”
Alongside Koslo will be the original Corner Gas cast including Butt, Gabrielle Miller, Eric Peterson, Fred Ewanuick, Lorne Cardinal, Tara Spencer-Nairn, and Nancy Robertson. The 13-episode first season is currently in pre-production and is expected to premiere on Comedy in 2018.
