Sometimes it feels like there are more funny Canadians out there than we know what to do with. But never fear - SiriusXM's annual Top Comic competition has swooped in yet again to keep us in the know. Who's got the funniest Tweets? Who can we rely on to transform the mundane into stuff that's less mundane? These people, that's who.

SiriusXM announced the 18 Top Comic semi-finalists just this week, and the merciless take-no-prisoners finale will be held on September 27, hosted by SiriusXM's Ben Miner and headlined by the one and only Nikki Glaser.

Here's the twist: you, yes you, have the power to determine which comics even get a chance to be in the finale. Sound cutthroat? You're damn right it is. But it's also a chance to prove that good old-fashioned democracy isn't actually dead.

Voting is open until 11:59 p.m. ET on August 17, which gives you a whole two and half weeks to mull over this potentially life-changing decision. And we do mean life-changing: this year's Top Comic winner will receive a whopping $25,000, and guaranteed stand-up slots at JFL Sydney, JFL42, JFL NorthWest and at Just For Laughs Montreal. Plus, the two runners-up will each receive $2,500. Cha-ching, baby.

Who will follow in the footsteps of last year's Top Comic champion, the great Gavin Matts? Only you can decide. Check out the Top Comic website to cast your votes, and buy tickets to the Top Comic Finale (which will take place at Toronto's wondrous Queen Elizabeth Theatre) here.
